American Idol Judge Kara DioGuardi Got Married

You all know that back in April, Kara DioGuardi confessed her struggle with body image. Well, now, the American Idol judge just has found someone that loves her just the way she is: DioGuardi married longtime boyfriend Mike McCuddy, who has a child from a previous relationship, and the intimate ceremony took place Sunday in songwriter’s hometown, in Prospect Harbor, Maine, on 5th of July.
When asked previously if her “Idol” castmates would be at her wedding, DioGuardi said, “I don’t think they’d appreciate an invitation to Prospect Harbor, Maine. I can’t really see Simon Cowell landing in Prospect Harbor. I don’t think that would happen.” But, according to the pastor who married the couple, Scott Nurse Sr., although no American Idol castmates were in attendance at the 20-minute ceremony, it was attended by the couple’s closest friends and family.
So, the ceremony took place in front of about 30 guests at the United Methodist Church across the street from her house. The 38-year-old producer-singer-songwriter wore a strapless Vera Wang gown and looked very elegant.
“I feel great,” DioGuardi said. “What was most unbelievable about the experience was when I looked out at the church and saw all these people that were so important to me and Mike, who were there for us. It was pretty powerful. I was very emotional and I’m not somebody who breaks down and cries”, DioGuardi told the InTouch magazine. “It’s been raining in Maine for 60 days. The only day that was nice was yesterday!”
Her husband is a 34-year-old general contractor who used to be a teacher and who built a house right next to DioGuardi’s New England home. They began dating and then got engaged when he proposed after a year and a half of dating, in Mexico last December, on her 38th birthday.
“We were in Mexico on vacation and we were just in the room. I was in my pajamas. We had some candles lit and he said, “You know I love you” and the whole thing and he said, “I have a question for you. Where are my shoes?” I said, “I don’t know where your shoes are!” (He said), “OK, well then will you marry me?” I said, “OK.” Very low-key. He has kind of an off sense of humor”.
The pastor who held the ceremony told Us Weekly that “They are absolutely in love with each other. When I told him he could kiss the bride, everybody cheered. It was a very close, small family-type service.”
