Claire Danes And Hugh Dancy To Marry Soon

Wedding bells will soon be ringing for Claire Danes, and her British boyfriend, Hugh Dancy, who have recently confirmed that they are engaged.

With reps confirming the special announcement, the 29-year-old “Stardust” actress and her 33-year-old beau of more than a year are happily eying wedded bliss. At the NYC premiere of Confessions of a Shopaholic, Dancy recently spoke about what he looks for in a perfect girl (something Claire obviously has), saying “Someone who’s intelligent, somebody who makes me laugh. I know people always say a good sense of humor, but they’re usually lying. Somebody who kind of has an independent life and ambition.”

Dancy graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English Literature and Language and has appeared in many films including Black Hawk Down, The Jane Austen Book Club, and most recently, Confessions of a Shopaholic. Hugh, who is fluent is French, has also modeled for Burberry since 2004. He was recently featured in three Burberry campaigns alongside supermodel Kate Moss.
Claire achieved world fame with a role in the film Romeo and Juliet from 1996, where she acted alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. In 1998 after filming the movie Brokedown Palace in the Philippine city of Manila, Claire said for Vogue magazine that the city was a “ghastly city” that “smelled of cockroaches”.
Because of her statements she has found herself the target of strong criticism, and her films are banned across the Philippines. Soon after the incident, Danes publicly apologized for her statements.
The couple have been inseparable since meeting on the 2007 film Evening. He also stated in a recent interview to Marie Claire magazine, “I met her then, but we didn’t start dating until filming finished.”
Apparently, Danes has in habit of falling in love with her leading men, having fallen in love with Billy Crudup, when she appeared with him in Stage Beauty, even though at the time she was in a 6-year relationship with Australian singer Ben Lee, who moving on married actress Ione Skye in India, last month. Billy Crudup, also fell for Danes, despite being in a 7-year relationship with actress Mary-Louise Parker, who at the time was 7-months pregnant with their first child. Best known for playing the role of Angela Chase, a socially hypocritical teenager on My So Called Life, who drops Brian Krakow, just so she can pursue a romance with the better looking Jordan Catalano (played by Jared Leto), even though he is emotionally unavailable, Danes has also made appearances in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
However, the couple seems to be truly in love, they are now officially engaged and they have recently stepped out together at the Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild awards in Los Angeles.
At the Sundance Film Festival, Dancy had mentioned the possibility of working with his future bride again in another movie. “Never say never,” he told Us. “There’s no list of people I wouldn’t work with, up to and including Claire. Obviously, I respect her as an actress immensely!”
