Leelee Sobieski Got Engaged & Amy Winehouse Got Divorced
The 27-year-old actress, who gained her spot in the Hollywood world after playing a modern Lolita with Tom Cruise in the 1999 Stanley Kubrick film, Eyes Wide Shut, and we’re talking about Leelee Sobieski, who recently wrapped up production on the indie drama The Mad Cow with Jeffrey Tambor. But now, the beautiful blonde actress has a stronger and more intimate reason to be happy: she got engaged to fashion designer Adam Kimmel, at least this is what her rep confirmed to People magazine. It seems she has modeled for her fiancé’s Fall/Winter 2009 look book and this is how their love started to sparkle.
However, even if Joan of Arc actress was spotted wearing a sparkler on her ring finger at the Public Enemies premiere in L.A. in June and she said she was “leaving to meet him in Paris” the next day, no other details about the engagement were released.
Well, while Leelee is now celebrating, Amy Winehouse is saying goodbye to her 2-year marriage with Blake Fielder-Civil. Winehouse met Fielder-Civil in a London bar in 2005 and married in Miami in 2007, but he was arrested six months later over an assault and sent to jail. The pair’s infamous two-year union was rife with arrests, public disputes and substance abuse and wasn’t exactly an ideal marriage. Winehouse’s parents hate Fielder-Civil and blame him for turning their daughter on to drugs, while Fielder-Civil’s parents don’t think kindly of his ex-wife, either.
He filed for divorce upon his release from prison in February, and claimed adultery on Winehouse’s part. Winehouse was rumoured to have had a fling with former rugby-player-turned actor Josh Bowman in St. Lucia at the beginning of the year.
According to the divorce papers, Fielder-Civil stated that living with Winehouse was “intolerable.” The 25 years old singer acknowledged she had been unfaithful, and said she would not contest the divorce, according to the Associated Press. And also according to the Associated Press, the former couple was not present in court when a judge granted their divorce petition at a Family Court hearing in London, England. The divorce will become final after six weeks and a day.
But a divorce isn’t the only mess Winehouse came home to - she allegedly left her St. Lucia apartment with £25,000 (about $46,000 Canadian) worth of damage and could face a hefty bill for her neglect.
The owners of the Cotton Bay apartment complex allegedly found the apartment in a state of disarray, complete with broken furniture, wrecked plumbing and cigarette burns. Winehouse shot to stardom with the multi-Grammy-winning album “Back to Black” in 2006. But her music has been overshadowed by reports of drug use, run-ins with the law and her tempestuous marriage.
