Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr Secretly Tied the Knot
Everything happen so fast with Orlando Bloom, 33, and Miranda Kerr, 27! Only a month after their engagement was confirmed, the couple tied the knot!
They reportedly began dating in late 2007 after being friends for a while. The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean actor asked Miranda’s agent for her number because she wouldn’t give it to him. “At the time I was seeing someone else,” she explained to Hello! magazine in September 2008. And so, step by step, their friendship developed into little more and finally blossomed into a beautiful love story.
They’ve made their first public appearance in April 2008 at Sydney’s Doncaster Day at the Randwick Racecourse, also meeting his future parents-in-law and for last year’s Thanksgiving they enjoyed their time together in Morocco. Last year, they were asked if they have any plans of getting married and they firmly declared to the press that they are not thinking yet of taking the plunge into a new life of husband and wife.
However, Bloom reconsidered and this year he asked her hand in marriage in the old-fashioned way. The star model’s mother, Therese Kerr, told People magazine that Orlando did things by the book: “Orlando being the true gentleman he is, followed tradition by asking for Miranda’s hand in marriage and we had no hesitation. They truly are a gorgeous couple, are very much in love and bring out the best in each other.”
And as far as Therese Kerr is concerned, the nuptials couldn’t have come soon enough. “All we have ever wanted is for our children to be healthy and happy, and we have never seen Miranda healthier and happier than she is right now. We are thrilled to welcome Orlando into the Kerr family.”
The newlyweds are now on their honeymoon in an undisclosed location but they were able to leave immediately after their wedding only because Miranda managed to cancel her appearance at the launch of David Jones’ Spring Season on 3 August in Australia. “David Jones very graciously released me during this period so we could celebrate an intimate ceremony and honeymoon together,” Miranda told the press. “I’m very much a part of the David Jones Family and I am very committed to my role. I am enormously grateful to David Jones to have been given this time to enjoy such a special moment in my life.”
A spokesperson for the upmarket Australian store said: “Given the exciting news that Miranda and Orlando have recently wed and will be enjoying their honeymoon together, Miranda will not be with us for the launch.”
Nevertheless, Miranda will honor all her contracts for this year, after their honeymoon is over, of course. She will appear in both Prada and Jil Sander’s fall campaigns, while Orlando has a number of films in the works, including “Main Street” and the futuristic “The Cross.”
