Prince William To Propose to Kate Middleton

Will 27-year-old Kate Middleton be the next Queen of Great Britain? Royal whispers say she will. The prince, who turns 28 in June, and the daughter of a commoner, as the press never forgets to remind her, have been dating since 2003, when they were both students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. They had an again off again relationship, splitting split briefly in 2007 and getting back together by the end of that year.

Now, the rumour is that Prince William is planning a proposal to his girlfriend of seven years and that the royal proposal is set to come in June 2010, June 3rd or 4th to be exact. According to journalist Tina Brown of The Daily Beast, June dates have been “mysteriously blocked out” on the palace diaries. From here comes the possibility of a November 2010 wedding.
The journalist, who wrote a biography on William’s mother Princess Diana, also said that if they are indeed getting married, they would most likely avoid saying their vows in St. Paul’s Cathedral. Why? Because “no bride, even one as good-looking as Ms. Middleton, could compete with the iconic images of the 20-year-old Princess of Wales unfurling her 25-foot silk taffeta train to the world’s cameras on the red carpeted steps of St. Paul’s.” She also said that the young couple might also want to avoid St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where William’s father, Prince Charles, tied the knot with his second wife Camilla.
However, as expected, Clarence House, William’s official residence, told CNN that they “don’t comment on speculation.” Britain’s Telegraph reported that a spokesman for St. James’s Palace declined to comment, and quoted a source as saying that any suggestion of Buckingham Palace’s preparing for November nuptials was “wide of the mark.”
Moreover, a source told People magazine that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, would be making an official visit to Plymouth, southwest England, on one of those days, June 3rd. A royal source told that the Prince, who is currently doing some training at a base in Cornwall, but soon will relocate back to RAF Valley, in North Wales, would not make the proposal. It seems he will be on a training course in Wales for his career as a search and rescue helicopter pilot on the days that were scheduled as the likely timing of the engagement “announcement.”
