Sara Ramirez and Julie Benz Are Engaged To Be Married
Two gorgeous actresses got engaged recently. Sara Ramirez and Julie Benz found the love of their lives and have decided never to let go.
After she married fellow doctor Arizona Robbins in a ratings winning episode of the hit Grey’s Anatomy, Sara Ramirez is preparing to walk down the aisle in real life as she just got engaged. the actress – who plays lesbian doctor Callie Torres on the hit show – said ‘Yes’ to long-term boyfriend Ryan Debolt’s proposal.
It seems that Ryan surprised Sara, 35, by popping the question in Paris, the worldwide capital of love and her spokesman confirmed it: “Sara Ramirez and her long-time partner Ryan Debolt are thrilled to announce their engagement, which took place in Paris, France on June 17th, 2011.”
Her fellow Grey’s Anatomy stars were also delighted with the news and one of them said to People magazine: “Everyone was over the moon when they heard Sara had got engaged and we wish her well.”
The curvy actress, who previously struggled to accept her body type and whose lesbian character and her support for gay rights led to her receiving hate mails, said in an interview with Latina magazine that she had, “never quite found my best friend and my romantic relationship all rolled up in one” as she did with Ryan. It was the first time Sara talked about her private life.
This will be the first marriage for Ramirez, 35, and the cherry top of some amazing years. Her debut solo EP topped the iTunes chart, she enjoyed significant success as the original Lady of the Lake in the Monty Python Broadway hit Spamalot, winning a Tony award for best featured actress in a musical in 2005 and she had a huge success playing in the award-winning medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
But Sara isn’t the only celebrity that celebrates the beginning of a new life with their partners. The former Dexter star, Julie Benz, is engaged to her boyfriend of four years, marketing executive Rich Orosco. The 39-year-old actress couldn’t refuse the customized Kwiat cushion-cut diamond and platinum engagement ring – complete with a diamond frame and milgrain edge band that her boyfriend, 38, gave her while popping the question in the backyard of the home they share in Los Angeles.
And this was not all. After four years of dating, Orosco knew that everything had to be perfect for his sweetheart to accept, so he also planned a Mexican-style surprise party with nearly 60 of their closest friends and family and a Mariachi band! “The proposal was simple and beautiful – and then I was shocked by the pop-up surprise Mexican fiesta engagement party,” Benz said, adding, “What girl doesn’t want to be serenaded by a Mariachi band surrounded by close friends and family? It was absolutely perfect!”
Benz, who recently starred in ABC’s shortlived drama No Ordinary Family and is set to appear on USA’s Royal Pains, will walk down the aisle for the second time, as she was previously married to actor John Kassir in 1998 but divorced in 2007.
